  • Overview

    The Classroom Technology Specialist is responsible for installing, maintaining, and operating multi-media audio and visual equipment in classrooms and other areas where student instruction takes place. Provides training and support for faculty, students, and staff using classroom equipment. Delivers supplemental equipment for classes and/or special events and assures that the equipment is set up properly. Performs operation and maintenance of audio-visual equipment used to support a wide variety of instructional methods and techniques. PART-TIME POSITION (29 hours per week, no benefits).


    • Monitors classroom equipment using interface/monitoring software.
    • Plans, oversees, and participates in equipment/system installations at the assigned campus
    • Assists with annual inventory inspection.
    • Works with Classroom Services Coordinator on the Main to campus to schedule rooms.
    • Maintains instructional equipment.
    • Communicates with vendors and main campus when instructional technology malfunctions cannot be resolved locally.
    • Responds to calls for classroom assistance.
    • Performs first and second level support to end users in the IT Support Services area.  Support covers Windows and Mac operating systems, desktop computers, peripherals, mobile devices, LAN issues, MS Office, e-mail applications, web applications, learning management system, Portal, incident management system,  traditional and VoIP telephony, SunGard Banner and other enterprise applications, modern classroom technologies, etc.
    • Demonstrate positive customer relations.
    • Ensure proper documentation, notification, escalation, tracking, and follow up of all incidents.


    • Bachelor’s degree with technical emphasis or related field experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions.
    • Ability to research solutions and determine the best solution set for the current environment.
    • Must be willing and able to learn new technologies as new products and services are adopted.
    • Ability to explain technical terminology to non-technical end users and create knowledge base documents.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service orientation.
    • Excellent time management and organization skills to balance, prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Self-motivated and highly organized.
    • Must exercise discretion and sound judgement, and be able to work well independently.
    • Must currently reside in the area.
