Overview

Senior System Administrator with leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes, plans, and administers the overall standard operating procedures for the enterprise server and networked application infrastructure, including daily and long-term activities such as security, acceptable use agreements, disaster recovery, backup, etc.
  • Plans and implements additions, deletions, and major modifications to the supporting infrastructure in coordination with executive leadership.
  • Responsible for overall strategic direction, goals, plans and policies of the department. Authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance.  Sets broad objectives and is accountable for overall results in respective area of responsibility. 
  • Promotes, initiates, maintains, and monitors security operations to include data, network, system, applications, and physical security. Broad knowledge of complex systems and procedures.
  • Provides leadership to plan goals and projects and assist in prioritizing needs including project management oversight and coordinating multiple project timelines.
  • Assists with the preparation and maintenance of operational plans, and measures and reports performance against the organization’s strategic plans.
  • Participates in vendor management.
  • High-level responsibility for budget, revenues and/or expenditure authority. May provide recommendations regarding forecasting and budget decisions related to projects and/or initiatives to assist in the provision of a well-chosen and up to date collection of technology materials and equipment.
  • High-level contact with others in key positions. Contact usually involves several areas within the organization and/or with community, government, business leaders, media and dignitaries.  Typically handles highly sensitive and/or confidential information.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or closely related discipline.
  • Technology-related certification/s in server administration, such as Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), etc.
  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work well with other departments, both technical and non-technical.
  • Knowledge of the administration of domain user accounts, file, and folder permissions, DHCP, DNS, RRAS, or other network services.
  • Proficient in MS Office software such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Access.
  • Ability to plan, direct and evaluate staff and information technology resources. Much have experience in staff hiring, discipline and termination.   
  • Available for on-call and/or emergency response and support as needed.
  • Currently local to the Houston, TX area.
  • Eligible to work for any U.S. employer without requiring sponsorship at any time.
